A spectacular settee from about 1890 has wonderful old needlepoint upholstery, depicting a richly detailed castle scenes with wild animals and trees.
The finely hand-stitched wool fabric is very well preserved with some wear, especially at the corners as shown. There are restorations on the seat in two places plus a stain, see photos. Springs are still firm on this baronial American made furniture.
Hand carved of solid oak, the strong and sturdy frame has its original finish, waxed and polished so only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain the antique patina.
Measurements of this imposing armchair are 74" wide, 32" deep, 47" tall and the seat is 19" high.
Related pieces in photos with matching needlepoint are priced and sold separately, call or email for availability.
