A classic solid cherry grandfather or tall case clock in the traditional Georgian manner is about 50 years old.
The original finish is in excellent condition, waxed and buffed so all that is needed to maintain the soft luster is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. Brass mounts, finials, weights and pendulum are all original on this vintage American made furniture, and the door locks.
The brass movement is signed by famous maker "Original Kieninger, Germany," and keeps accurate time. It plays the familiar Westminster chime tune on each quarter hour, also counting the hour. Pull chains wind the movement to run for a week. The dial is hand painted on this American made clock.
Size is 19" wide, 13" deep and 7' 2" tall.
This clock needs to be "set up" when delivered - weights and pendulum attached and the case leveled. Most of our customers can do this as we walk them through the fairly simple steps by phone. The process is not very difficult, and it is also nice to know how to do this again whenever the clock needs to be moved for cleaning, painting or whatever. A few customers prefer to hire a local clockmaker at their own expense to make a house-call and set up the clock, which is usually not very expensive, depending on your location.
