A lovely French 1890's mantel clock garniture set includes a sculpture of a beautiful young woman, dreamily reading outdoors.
Signed "Ruffany," this artist's statues are known throughout France. Her book is "Le Langage des Fleurs." The sculpture and urns are spelter, a cast white metal alloy similar to pewter.
A subtle original hand painted and dark bronze finish is in extremely fine condition with very little wear. Bases are marble with some small chips on this antique three piece set.
Professionally cleaned and oiled, the original movement keeps excellent time for a week on a winding.
Signed "E M, Paris," it strikes the half and counts the hour on a silvery bell. The porcelain dial is hand painted.
Clock measurements are 16" wide, 7" deep and 16" tall, urns are 6 1/2" wide, 5 1/2" deep and 16 1/2" tall.
