Salvaged from a carpenter's workshop, this well worn woodworking workbench was hand crafted about 1890, and could be an interesting kitchen island or wine and cheese tasting table or planting bench. Solid maple hardwood, a very fine finish preserves loads of antique character - dings, stains and wear. There is a recessed well to keep tools and parts from rolling away.
The finish is in excellent condition on solid maple and oak, preserving lots of antique character - dings, stains and wear. Two clamping vises still work on giant wooden screws. Joints are constructed with hand cut dovetail joints and mortise and tenons. Holes in the top were for movable posts when gluing projects.
The top lifts off for easier handling of this American made historic and functional furniture.
Measurements are 31 1/2" tall, 72" long overall including the vise handle, 65" without and 34" wide including the handle, 29" without.
