A genuine Georgian period hall bench or settee from the 1770's was hand carved of solid fine grained oak. Wooden pegs and shaped raised panels are authentic on this historic country manor furniture, made either in England or in Colonial America by a British carpenter.
The old finish has nice patina, preserving lots of dings and mars for a little character. The backside is lightly finished. Waxed and buffed, all that is needed to maintain its luster is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.
There are numerous restorations and repairs over the centuries, and the frame is reglued to be strong and durable for another generation. The seat is newly upholstered. Measurements are 73" long, 27" deep, 44" tall and the seat is 19" high.
