A classic solid cherry chest or dresser was hand crafted about 1790 during the Federal or Hepplewhite period. On the back a stenciled signature reads "H. Campbell."
The renewed finish is excellent, preserving lots of dings and mars for antique character, see photos. Top and sides are cut from wide planks of cherry with golden "sapwood" at the edges.
Graduated drawers have hand cut dovetail joints and chamfered bottoms, sides are restored as needed to slide smoothly. Hand wrought brasses are very old but not original to this piece.
Square cut nails are visible on the hand planed backside of this historic American made East Coast furniture.
Size is 40" wide, 21" deep and 41 1/2" tall.
