This style of Italian made armchair was named after Savonarola, the fiery monk of Florence, Italy who was famous for his "Bonfire of Vanities" in the early Renaissance.
Hand carved of solid fruitwood about 1900, these historic chairs can be folded for outdoor use. The original finish is very well preserved with warm antique patina, there is a loss to one shell shaped crest, see photos.
Chairs have been waxed and buffed, so all that is needed to maintain their luster is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.
The traditional scarf ring is carved on the right arm of this artful furniture from Italy.
Measurements are 27 1/2" wide, 23" deep, 36" tall and seats are 18" high.
