Expertly crafted about 1895 for a St. Louis mansion, this Renaissance design architectural salvage fireplace mantel and surround is wonderfully paneled. Dentil moldings and shaped columns are authentic.
Quarter sawn oak, the original dark crackled or crazed finish is very well preserved with a clear coat of satiny varnish. There are minor losses at the edges, see photos.
American made antique furniture, this "double shelf" mantel measures 5' 1" wide, 16" deep and 81" tall, the fire opening is 46" tall and about 41 1/2" wide, 38" between the column bases.
