A palatial mantel clock from about 50 years ago has a German movement signed "FHS" for famous maker, Franz Hermle and Sons.
The lavish shaped case has inlaid marquetry with tulipwood and other exotic species plus Baroque cast brass mounts. The solid brass movement keeps excellent time for a week on a winding. There is a two note strike on the quarter hour plus a count on the hour of this vintage timepiece. Hand painted porcelain numerals adorn the embossed brass dial, with an angel or cherub head above.
Measurements are 12 1/2" wide, 6" deep and 23" tall.
