From the late Victorian or Eastlake period about 1885, this marvelous secretary desk has a cylinder rolltop and bookcase above.
Solid walnut with beautiful matched burl panels, the restored finish has glowing antique patina. Doors have original wavy glass, brass pulls are later.
Shelves adjust on wooden supports. The roll top glides smoothly open, inside are cubicles and tiny drawers for papers. The pull out writing surface has a new saddle leather insert.
Lower drawers have "pin and cove" dovetail joints, characteristic of the era. Three different keys operate all locks. For easier delivery, the bookcase is removable.
Measurements are 41 1/2" wide at the crown, 24" deep, 87 1/2" tall and the desktop is 29" high.
