A Victorian period mantel clock was signed by famous maker, "Ansonia, NY, Pat. 1882."
Professionally cleaned and oiled, the brass mechanism keeps excellent time for a week on a winding. The gong strike counts the hours and also the half hour. The "open escapement" dial has a tiny crack in the porcelain face, see photos. There is wear to the original finish on the cast iron face. An embossed brass frieze with children or cherubs surrounds the base.
Size is 15" wide, 6" deep and 10" tall.
