An exceptional late Victorian or Eastlake period secretary desk and bookcase dates from about 1885. Solid walnut with matched burl panels, the glowing warm patina is beautiful.
The restored finish is in excellent condition, preserving just enough mars, losses and shrinkage separations from age for a little antique character. Delicate incised carving and piercing is authentic on this American made library furniture. The pull out writing surface has new natural saddle leather. The cylinder roll top glides smoothly.
Brass hardware is original, a key operates both door locks. Behind original wavy glass doors are adjustable book shelves. The upper section is removable for easier delivery.
Size is 42" wide, 22" deep and 91" tall, the desk top is 30" high.
