A classical version of the famous "Davenport" or ship captain's desk was hand crafted in England about 1900.
The original finish on mahogany is very well preserved, with just enough mars and shrinkage separations from age for a little antique character. There are mars to the gold tooled leather top as shown, at the back is a gallery for books. Underneath is a storage compartment with a small drawer.
On the right side is a locking door that covers four drawers, all with solid oak sides and hand cut dovetail joints. Shaped columns are well proportioned and clean lines are beautiful on this historic furniture.
Size is 22" wide, 23" deep, and the top slopes from 30 1/2" tall at the front to 33 1/2" high at the back.
