This stately secretary desk and bookcase was crafted of quarter sawn oak in England about 60 years ago, and is all original.
The deep rich finish is in very fine condition on this vintage library or office furniture. The bookcase has individual panes in the grillwork and adjustable shelves on brass pegs. The key is a handle only, the lock does not work.
Inside the locking drop front the writing surface is gold tooled leather. There are secret compartments and a hidden tray for letters plus tiny cubicles, drawers and a locking compartment.
Patinated column mounts, the center astragal and pulls are solid brass. Lower drawers have banded fronts and dovetailed sides. The bookcase is removable for easier delivery on this classic vintage furniture.
Measurements are 47" wide at the crown, 22" deep, 90 1/2" tall and the desktop is 29" high.
