A lovely hand made cross stitch tapestry is signed "Eliza Coggs her work age 12, 1850" and has an original genuine rosewood frame with glass. According to "Ancestry.com," she was born about 1838 in Limehouse, Middlesex, England.
The expert work of a very skilled girl depicts children in front of their country house with birds flying overhead. The leafy border includes grapevines. There is some discoloration and fading on this antique work of textile art.
Overall size is 24" x 17 1/2" and 1 1/2" deep.
