A gorgeous Georgian mahogany corner cabinet dates from around 1790, and was expertly hand crafted in England. Polished to a silken sheen, the finish appears original and has wonderful rich antique patina with a few mars at the edges, see photos.
Original gold-plated brass mounts include keyhole escutcheons with embossed faces. Interior oak sided drawers are hand dovetailed, there is a pull out shelf. Both door locks work, the upper lock appears to have been replaced about 100 years ago.
Door panels are chamfered on the inside and book matched on the fronts. The top gallery and swags on the doors are delicately hand carved. The top and bottom are hand dovetailed to the sides, every board shows hand planing by a master cabinetmaker.
Original rear feet have wooden reinforcements from long ago. For easier handling, the upper section is a separate. Hand cut nailheads are visible on this serene historic furniture, which has a few shrinkage separations from age.
Measurements are 50" across the front, each side is 35" deep and height is 7' 4 1/2" tall.
