A wonderful "Tansu" or Asian dowry chest was hand crafted around 1900. Made of solid ash and pine, this beautiful chest has joined wooden pegs, hand cut dovetails and engraved wrought iron bindings.
The finish is excellent with warm antique patina and character - mars and wear, see photos. Handles on the end can be raised to use a long pole to carry this furniture to a bride's new home. Eight drawers all have original iron pulls and mounts.
The only working lock is a clever bar with a key to lock the sliding latch mechanism.
Size of this traditional chest or dresser is 46" wide, 19" deep and 35" tall.
