Spectacular furniture from the Art Nouveau period about 1910, a wide chest or dresser has three dimensional figures of female nudes plus shell and leaf motifs. Said to be Karpen Furniture of Chicago, the label is missing. Exceptional design recalls Tiffany and other artists of the era.
Richly grained mahogany is enhanced by the lustrous finish, which is in excellent condition with only a few mars at the edges. Brasses are original, large drawers are dovetailed.
There is a wide bevel on the original oval mirror, which has a little "smoke" for character. The front is gracefully bowed on this remarkable American crafted antique, said to be Karpen.
Measurements are 62" wide, 29" deep and 6' tall including the removable mirror.
