A traditional Asian dowry cabinet, this "tansu" dates from about 1900.
Delicately crafted of cherrywood with matched elm burl panels and pine sides, the original finish is very well preserved with warm antique patina. Engraved brasses are complete.
There are a few warps, shrinkage separations and mars for character, see photos.
This furniture held a bride's dowry of silver, needlework and linens. Size is 43" wide, 21" deep and 65" tall.
