Traditional Brittany design is truly inspiring on this armoire with carved three dimensional scenes of a village. This armoire has hand carved figures of dancers, musicians and traditional stone homes. Solid chestnut, the high relief artistry is expert on this early 1900's antique.
The finish is excellent, waxed and polished, needing only a wipe with a soft dry cloth to keep its warm antique patina. Brass hardware is original, the door key is a handle only, the lock does not work. The drawer is hand dovetailed, joints have wooden pegs - virtuoso provincial workmanship is superior everywhere. Original shaped and beveled mirrors have a little smoke to show their age.
