A spectacular desk or hall chair was carved of solid oak in the Renaissance manner about 1910. A hand carved family crest with lion and grape motifs in high relief show remarkable artistry. The original finish is very well preserved, it has been waxed and polished and requires only an occasional rub with a dry cloth to retain its warm antique patina.
With a strong and tight frame, this large chair is comfortable. Old leather upholstery has brass nailheads on this historic furniture, expertly crafted in France for for the library in a grand country house.
Dimensions are 24" wide, 25" deep, 45" tall and the seat is 19" high.
