Hand made about 1840 in eastern US, this mahogany secretary with a bookcase top has original wavy glass windows in Gothic design.
The finish is excellent on flame grain mahogany. A solid mahogany top has been mounted over the crown molding, the top underneath was originally unfinished. The flip open writing surface is inlaid with natural saddle leather, and rests on pull out supports.
Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints and matched grain, there are plugs from relocated pulls. Hand cut square nail heads are visible.
The upper bookcase section is removable on this picturesque antique furniture, the doors have a small warp.
Measurements are 43" wide, 19" deep, 58" tall and the desk top is 33" high at the front.
