A marvelous cylinder or "barrel" roll desk with bookcase top dates from about 1885 during the late Victorian or Eastlake period.
Solid walnut with burl panels, the glowing finish is in excellent condition with a few mars at the edges and warm antique patina.
The removable bookcase has wavy glass doors, a working lock and adjustable shelves. Inside the matched burl roll top are tiny cubicles and drawers, the pull out writing surface is natural saddle leather. The drawer has round or "pin and cove" dovetail joints of the era on this historic American made furniture.
Measurements are 46" wide, 23" deep, 7' 4" tall and the leather writing surface is 30" high.
