A splendid "S" curve roll top desk from about 1895 is signed on a bronze escutcheon, "The Gunn Desk, Grand Rapids, Mich."
Solid quarter sawn oak with raised panels, the deep finish is in excellent condition with a few mars at the edges for antique character. A wide roll glides smoothly but has no key. Inside are small cubicles, mail slots, letter holders and a locking compartment. The center drawer is rebuilt, a bank of four dovetailed drawers with carved pulls are deep. To the right is a locking raised panel door, inside are compartments for papers and ledger books. The upper roll section is removable on this American made office furniture, so this desk will go through any legal door.
Measurements are 66" wide, 38" deep, 44" tall, the desk top is 30 1/2" high, and the kneehole is 30" wide and 25" tall.
