This small chest or console was expertly reduced in size about 100 years ago from a larger chest or dresser, originally hand made about 1840 in England.
Mahogany wood is beautifully figured, the top is cut from a single shimmering plank. Drawers have hand dovetailed solid oak sides and later brass pulls are from about 1890.
The old finish is very fine with warm antique patina and has been waxed and polished, so only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain the glowing luster.
Size is 41" long, 12 1/2" deep and 26 1/2" tall.
