If there is such a thing as Country Empire, this secretary desk and bookcase is it. Hand crafted of solid walnut about 1840, this clean lined desk is very pleasing.
The finish is waxed and buffed, so an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is all that is needed to maintain its warm patina. There are small mars at the edges for character, the flip open desk writing area has ink stains.
Bookcase doors have old wavy glass and original brass and porcelain latches. Square cut nails are visible on this American made antique furniture, said to be from Pennsylvania.
Two separate pieces for easier moving, shelves are not adjustable and locks have no keys. Size is 46" wide, 21" deep, 90" tall and the desktop is 27" high.
