This classic secretary desk in curly or tiger maple reflects Georgian design, but was made in New England during the Federal period, around 1790.
The finish is in excellent condition on this historic furniture. A drop front has a working lock that doesn't secure, and rests on pull out supports. Inside are eight tiny drawers of various sizes. Lower graduated drawers also have hand cut dovetail joints and rough sawn and chamfered bottoms. Brasses are over 100 years old but not original.
There are various repairs on this timeless antique. Top corners have exposed dovetail joinery. The hand sawn base appears original with various later glue blocks underneath. On the back is a partial moving sticker from Plymouth, Mass.
Dimensions are 39" wide, 19" deep, 42" tall and the desktop is 32" high.
