A classic armoire, linen press or chifferobe in the Georgian manner was hand crafted in England around 1890. Beautiful mahogany wood has a fine old finish, waxed and polished so that all that is needed to maintain its warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.
There are shrinkage separations from age and minor mars at the edges for character. Drawers and the back were restored with hand cut dovetail joints by a skilled carpenter many years ago after this understated antique was brought to America. Expert construction includes delicate inlaid banding and pegged joints on raised panel doors.
Original brasses have embossed grape clusters. The door lock does not work, the key is a handle only.
Two separate pieces for easier moving, dimensions are 50" wide, 24" deep and 78" tall.
