From the late Victorian or Eastlake period about 1880, this solid cherry tall chest has brilliant hand carved details and a "sidelock." This hinged mechanism secured all the drawers with a single lock on the hinged side column, and still works.
Drawers have dovetailed joints on this American made antique furniture. The middle cubby lock does not work, the key only acts as a handle. Carving and moldings are masterful, the finish is excellent with warm patina. Hardware is original.
Size is 39" wide, 22" deep and 57" tall.
