Signed "New England Furniture Co.," this lawyer's or barrister's bookcase dates from the very early 1900's. Quarter sawn oak has an excellent deep finish on this American made antique library furniture.
This unit can be disassembled, but is an unusual patented design that slides apart, different from the typical "stacking" design.
Three lift up doors have original wavy glass and brass knobs. Two sections accommodate books up to 9 1/2" tall and 10" deep, the lower section up to 13 1/2" tall. The base includes a drawer with dovetailed joints.
Overall dimensions are 34" wide, 15" deep and 50" tall.
