This teak and brass balance scale from about 1880 was brought from England, where it was used for gold or for drugs by an apothecary.
The teak base is well worn and has a drawer where scale weights might have been kept. A solid brass mechanism is operated by a lever which raises the arm and pans to float free.
Measurements of this nostalgic antique are 9" wide, 4" deep, 10" tall and removable brass pans are 2" diameter.
