An imposing library bookcase was deeply carved of solid oak with knights heads and griffin motifs about 1890 in northern Italy.
Center doors have shaped and beveled wavy glass panes. Three banks of shelves adjust on wooden supports. Spiral columns and deep moldings are beautiful on this antique European furniture.
The original finish is very well preserved and has been waxed and buffed, so all that is needed to preserve its luster is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. Hardware is original, center locks work, right and left door locks do no work.
Artistic details have chisel marks from a master carver, there are various warps and un-eveness from age, see photos. Measurements are 6' 1" wide, 19" deep and 6' 1" tall.
