A Victorian Renaissance loveseat with "Jenny Lind" sculptures is often attributed to John Jeliff, but there is no signature, so nothing is certain. Solid walnut with burl panels, this American made antique furniture is tight and strong, reglued to serve another generation. The finish is in excellent condition with typical irregularities in the burl, see photos. Upholstery is new and seats are soft but supportive. Singer Jenny Lind, known as the "Swedish Nightingale," was a sensation, and her famous face adorns the cameos and three dimensional carved arms. Jeliff (1813-1893) worked in Newark, NJ, and was one of the great designers and makers of his day. Size is 66" wide, 30" deep, 44" tall and the seat is 17" high. Matching pieces are priced and sold separately, call or email for availability. See 25 photos on Harp Gallery website that enlarge to full screen size.
