An American country furniture classic, this "jailhouse" cupboard is named for the wooden bars on the door to ventilate food kept inside. Entirely hand-made about 1850 of solid pine and birch, the golden finish is excellent inside and out with warm patina.
The door has a chamfered or raised panel, and pegged joints. Hand-cut square nails are visible on this well-proportioned cabinet. Top and side planks are secured with expertly hand-cut dovetail joinery. The base has been rebuilt on this American antique.
Measurements of this beautifully crafted cupboard are 49" wide, 17" deep and 5' 6" tall.
