Remarkably carved three dimensional Blackamoors, cherubs and gargoyle faces are amazing on this 1900 era throne or hall chair from Italy.
Sculpted by a master in solid fruitwood, the bold artistry is imposing and the frame is strong and tight. The finish has lovely warm patina and later revarnishing. Old cut velvet upholstery is in very fine condition, but this antique furniture could be reupholstered to match any decor.
Measurements of this historic and monumental armchair are 32" wide, 33" deep, 49" tall and the seat is 18" high.
