Carved Chinese Altar, Sofa or Console Table

This beautiful Altar table was hand carved in China about 100 years ago. Altar tables are the most important piece of furniture in a home and present family heirlooms and ancestral relics. They are always prominently placed with carefully attended incense burning.

The finish is very fine with warm antique patina on ash and mahogany, the artisan's hand tool marks have left marks everywhere. Traditional symbols and protective guardian dragons abound. There are mars, separations and repairs, see photos. The dramatic large scale indicates a wealthy home, dimensions are 8' 3" long, 22" deep and 35" tall.
