A traditional grandfather or long case clock was carved of solid cherry about 40 years ago, and is signed "The President, an original by Daneker of Fallston, MD."
The original hand rubbed finish is in very fine condition on this American made vintage furniture. Above the embossed dial is a painted moon phase wheel. The lower door has a working lock.
The brass movement keeps accurate time and runs for a week on a winding, done by pulling the chains on the weights. There is a resonant chime that plays the familiar Westminster melody on each quarter hour and counts the hour as well.
Dimensions are 19" wide, 11" deep and 79 1/2" tall to the tip of the brass finial.
This clock needs to be "set up" when delivered - weights and pendulum attached and the case leveled. Most of our customers can do this as we walk them through the fairly simple steps by phone. The process is not very difficult, and it is also nice to know how to do this again whenever the clock needs to be moved for cleaning, painting or whatever. A few customers prefer to hire a local clockmaker at their own expense to make a house-call and set up the clock, which is usually not very expensive, depending on your location.
