A classic chess set from the 1920's has ebony and maple pieces, all with hand carved bone crowns. The lined case opens to form a chess board, inlaid with cherry and fruitwood. Pieces have a little wear to the finish, there are small losses, restorations and shrinkage separations from age to the natural bone, see photos.
The set is complete, "black and white" pieces range from 3 1/4" to over 5" tall. There are minor mars on the case, size when closed is 18" long, 9" wide and 3" tall, open dimensions in playing position is 18" square and 1 1/2" tall.
