Chinese 1930's Writing Desk, Hand Carved Birds

Hand carved in China in the 1930's, this intricate desk with bird motifs has a satiny almost black or charcoal finish in excellent condition.

Deeply sculpted in hardwood, there are five drawers and two locking cabinets plus compartments for papers. The upper gallery is a separate piece on this lavishly carved and pierced furniture from the Orient. There are minor shrinkage separations and warps from age, see photos.

Measurements are 45" wide, 29" deep, 54" tall and the desk surface is 29" high.
