Made for a school about 1930, this teacher's desk is quarter sawn oak. Deep dovetailed drawers include a sideways file drawer. The center drawer has a pencil tray but no key for the lock. Two pull out shelves offer extra workspace on this American made furniture, signed "Thrifty Desk, Made in Grand Rapids," Michigan.
The finish is in very good condition, the top has lots of mars, dings and stains for antique character, see photos. Brass tips protected the feet when janitors mopped the classrooms.
Size of this rugged desk is 50" long, 30" deep and 30 1/2" tall, the kneehole is 19 1/2" wide and 25 1/2" tall.
