The artist is unknown on this oil painting of a young woman in classical dress, playing a wooden flute as she walks.
The original painting appears to be from the Empire Period, about 1825, but we have not taken it apart to check actual age. There are cracks in the painting which is on a board.
A Victorian gold frame with oak leaves and acorns dates from about 1860, but a board was glued to the back in modern times.
In any case, this is a charming and evocative work of art. Dimensions of the frame are 14" x 12" overall, the painting is 9 1/2" x 7 1/2."
