Handmade in England about 1870, a sterling silver four piece coffee and tea service includes a sugar and creamer. Signed by the silversmith with hallmarks on every piece, they are embossed in numerous places.
There is a hand embossed ivy motif on the rims. Traces of the hand work and dovetailed silver soldered joints are beautiful. Interiors have an original gold wash.
An elk design is engraved on the coffee pot, presumably a design from the family crest. There are minor dings and dents, especially on one side of the creamer, see photos. The teapot handle is slightly loose but secure at the insulators.
This antique set weighs approx. 78 troy ounces. Height measurements of this elegant service are as follows: coffee pot 10 3/4," tea pot 6 1/4," sugar bowl 5 1/4" and creamer 4 3/4."
