This Victorian period mantel clock has an inlaid marble and polished slate case in the classical manner, and dates from about 1890. The open escapement movement is signed "ST, USA," for famous maker, "Seth Thomas" of Connecticut.
The case has been polished and given a protective finish on this American made antique. Delicate carving is accented in gold. There is beveled glass in the door, the hand painted porcelain dial has chips by the left winding post, see photos.
An original brass movement runs accurately for a week on a winding. Professionally serviced and oiled, there is a new spring. A gong strikes the half hour and counts the hour as well.
Size is 14 1/2" wide, 6 1/2" deep and 10" tall.
