Richly carved in solid walnut, this platform rocking chair has stylized bear heads and paws on the arms. Crafted in the late Victorian or Eastlake period about 1880, luxurious detailing is impressive.
The original finish is in wonderful condition for its age, and the older upholstery is little worn but certainly serviceable. Springs are solid but soft on this very comfortable furniture, also called a stationary rocker, because they stay in one place as you rock.
Size of this rare antique is 27" wide, 34" deep and 47" tall.
