Carved of curly birch about 1885, a sweet writing desk has "spoon" or incised chip carving that is characteristic of the Eastlake period.
The lift top has a natural saddle leather inset. Upper doors unlock with a key, the cherry wood interior has tiny drawers and compartments. On the top is a gallery for books. The satiny finish is excellent on this American made jewel.
Size of this exquisite antique furniture is 30" wide, 21" deep, 52" tall and the writing surface slopes up from 29" at the front edge.
