Traditional Brittany design is truly inspiring. This armoire or cabinet has a hand carved spinning scene of village life from about 1890. Solid oak and chestnut, the incredible three dimensional sculptures and traditional spindle grillwork are picturesque.
The finish is excellent, waxed and polished, needing only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth to keep its warm antique patina. Wrought iron hardware, lift off hinges and working lock are all original. Carving is all by hand - virtuoso workmanship is superior everywhere. There are minor shrinkage separations from age and a slight warp to the door, see photos.
