Genuine inlaid marquetry of rosewood, mahogany, tulipwood and satinwood are spectacular on this Italian armoire from about 1920.
The original finish has exceptionally warm patina. There are a few mars and losses at the edges and crackling and waviness from age for character, see photos. The lock and key still works on interlocking doors. Inside is a closet pole, and this antique could be configured with shelves if desired, interior depth is 21 1/2."
Delicate banding and intricate marquetry in exotic woods captures the style of one of Italy's most famous cabinetmakers, Giuseppe Maggiolini, who lived 1738-1814. Renowned across Europe, he created furniture for royalty, including the Empress Maria Theresa of Austria, Napoleon's widow the Empress Maria Luisa and the King of Poland.
This palatial example of "Maggiolini" design can be disassembled for delivery and measures 49" wide, 25" deep and 77" tall.
