A wonderful example of the "papier mache" craze in England dates from the 1850's. This large clothes or upholstery brush has genuine gold leaf painting and inlaid mother of pearl and abalone inlay work.
The original finish is a work of art with some losses plus wear and crazing or crackling from age for antique character as shown. Inscribed, "This Brush May Be Used Wet or Dry," measurements of this antique are 18" long, 3" wide and 2" tall.
