This magnificent sideboard and cabinet with stained glass doors was hand carved about 1890 in the Black Forest area, where Germany, France and Switzerland meet. This opulent piece would have been part of the dowry for the daughter of an affluent family.
The renewed deep finish is in excellent condition on solid fine grained oak, deeply sculpted with game and traditional motifs.
Hand leaded stained glass windows include faceted jewels and hand painted enameled cockatrice. There are hairline cracks that are only partially visible at one corner, see photos.
Drawers have carved pulls and hand cut dovetail joints. Note a minor repair to the lower molding, which is stable. This massive cupboard disassembles for easier moving.
Dimensions are 5' wide, 22" deep and 8' 9" tall.
