An exquisite late Victorian or Eastlake period desk was carved of solid walnut with burl panels about 1880.
The satiny restored finish is in excellent condition, preserving just enough mars for a little antique character on this American made library furniture, see photos. The boldly grained top has natural mineral streaks. There are open galleries for books plus incised or "spoon" carving of the era.
Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints, a key for the drawers is a handle only, the locks do not work. Another key works in the two small doors.
Measurements are 48" wide, 28" deep, 30 1/2" tall and legroom is about 24" underneath.
